COMMUNITY LOVE DAY

What is Community Love Day?
A day to share your hearts and hands with those in need in the community.
 
How does it work?
In the section below, read about our various volunteer opportunities, then sign up using the link for that project. There is something for all ages and abilities. We meet on a Saturday at Franklin Community Church between 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.  You can enjoy breakfast, pick up your free Community Love Day t-shirt* and head out to your service project. There will also be two volunteer opportunities right at the church.  After your volunteer work, we hope you will join us back at the church for lunch.
 
*Previous participants, please wear your t-shirt from last year. New participants, please sign up by May 1st to get your FREE Community Love Day t-shirt. Please indicate your t-shirt size in the comment section of Sign-Up Genius. If the link to your assignment does not use Sign-Up Genius but sends you directly to the company’s website, please email Marta at martajohnston77@gmail and give her your name and  your t-shirt size.

This year's Advent by Candlelight was magical!  Rev. Faith Fowler of Cass Community Social Services was again inspirational.  She spoke about their programming and the various ways they help the homeless, the hungry, and adults with developmental delay who desperately want to work.  She shared that the first Tiny Homes residents now own their homes!  She spoke of a man who recently donated to Cass whose life was turned around because he received one of our Meal Kits.

​Holiday Flute Concert

Franklin Community Church hosted a Benefit Concert for the Methodist Children's Home Society.  The Michigan Flute Orchestra performed their holiday selections for us.  The hot chocolate bar was a hit. ☕  And even a special guest stopped by with candy canes.

Preparing Tea Orders for Cass Social Services Communi-tea. 

Making blankets for the children of the Methodist Children's Home Society (MCHS).

​December: 
Annually, due to your generosity, 90+ boxes are sent to children around the world.

​






In December, Franklin Community Church sponsors the Sock, Mitten, and Underwear project.  These items are given to ministries such as Cass Community of Social Services and The Welcome Inn homeless shelter.
